Opening of the Plaque in memory of Roger Green at Cherry Tree Lane Bridge, and work party, Weds 19 October

Sylvia Green arrived with 3 friends to reveal the plaque the Friends had erected in honour of the memory of her husband Roger at the Cherry Tree Lane Bridge. Roger worked tirelessly on the Nickey Line for many years. The large attendance – there were 22 in all – spoke volumes for the admiration we all had for Roger, while there were a further 3 persons who had to cry off for illness on the day. Those present were thanked by Sylvia, who kindly brought quantities of chocolate biscuits for all present. Our volunteers smartened up the bridge and it’s surrounds, and worked on the both sides of the bridge, removing fallen branches, and path side vegetation, including ivy, to let in more light

Special thanks Geoff Bunce for seeking permission to mount the plaque from Kehoe Woodford, Bridges and Structures, at HC, and to James Johnson who arranged for the making of the plaque, and for mounting it

Do go and view the plaque!
