Railway Ramblers Grant to Friends

We are please to announce that the Friends of the Nickey Line have been gifted a grant of £500 by Railway Ramblers towards the cost of our new website.

Railway Ramblers is a national walking club, focussed on walking disused railway routes across the UK.  The club has a Footpath Fund which is used to support other organisations that conserve, actively maintain and promote the use of disused railway lines.

Walks along sections of the Nickey Line are arranged every few years for RR members and non-members are welcome to join them.  The Friends and Railway Ramblers have benefited in the past with a direct link in the late Roger Green, who was an active member of both groups and led the 2017 walk pictured below.

RR Vice Chairman (and Chilterns Area coordinator) Neil Hebborn said “Railway Ramblers are pleased to be able to support the ongoing work of the Friends of the Nickey Line to maintain the former railway route and encourage it’s use by the local and wider community”.

More details on the club can be found at https://www.railwayramblers.org.uk/.
