Nickey Line Workparty, Hemel Hempstead – Thursday, 8 January 2026
We have a Friends volunteer work party in Hemel Hempstead planned for Thursday, 8 January, starting at 10.00; the current expectation is that this will be all day (finishing no later than 15.00), but this will depend on the weather and how quickly we are able to complete the work with the numbers attending. Please bring lunch if you plan to stay into the afternoon. Please also bring a drink for the morning break – biscuits will be provided.
We will be working mainly on the lower path between the Midland Road/Adeyfield Road Bridge and the beginning of the housing at Keens Fields. The aim is to continue our previous work to open up the path by clearing back the brambles and scrub from alongside the paths and by the set of steps that connect the upper and lower paths – the expectation is that we can lose the cuttings in the undergrowth. In addition, we will litter pick along to Keens Field steps.
We will meet by the Midland Road/Adeyfield Road bridge just before 10.00 (or along the path). Limited parking is available on the grass space in front of the bridge.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and with stout footwear. Volunteers may prefer to bring their own gauntlets; other tooling and kit (including gauntlets) provided.
If this workparty has to be cancelled late because of the weather or other factors an email will be sent to those registered to attend no later than 08.30 on the day.
If you plan to come along please let James know beforehand, and whether you intend to leave around lunchtime: jamess.johnson@btinternet.com.
