New Surface Laid at Roundwood Halt

We are pleased to say the new surface at Roundwood Halt (Roundwood Crossing to the Five Ways intersection) is open for business! See the photos …..

Users – both cyclists and walkers – have welcomed the new surface – it looks good and makes travelling this section the pleasure it should be.

The work was organised by Herts County Council and cost just over £122,000 which  came from Section 106 moneys (which are a levy on local agreed housing and other developments).

Friends of the Nickey Line had asked Herts CC to prioritise the Roundwood to Five Ways section as it is one of the most heavily used sections of the Line. We shall continue our work with local councils to resurface more of the Nickey Line – especially the next section from Five Ways down to Knott Wood which holds many muddy areas in wet weather.

If you are not a member of the Friends already, please do join us online at https://www.nickeyline.org/the-friends/become-a-friend/ to help us make further improvements to the Line. Every new member adds to the weight we have with the councils!
