We have a Friends volunteer work party in Hemel Hempstead rearranged for Tuesday, 24 February, starting at 10.00; the current expectation is that this will be all day (finishing no later than 15.00), but this will depend on the weather and how quickly we are able to complete the work with the numbers attending. Please bring lunch if you plan to stay into the afternoon. Please also bring a drink for the morning break – biscuits will be provided.
We will be working at the approximate location of Godwin’s Halt, at a relatively new site for the Friends. This on the NL path by Hartwell Ford just into the trees (Yew Tree Wood) at the path junction by the remaining bridge work.
The aim is to clear the site of nettles and brambles (and litter) to open up the view of the remaining brickwork of the buried bridge.
We will meet on site just before 10.00 (on the path). Limited parking is available in Martian Avenue; alternatively you can park at St Paul’s Church on Fletcher Way/Solway and then walk up the Nickey Line to our site.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and with stout footwear. If you have a spade (or mattock) that you could bring that would be of help. Volunteers may prefer to bring their own gauntlets; other tooling and kit (including gauntlets) provided.
If you plan to come along please let Geoff know beforehand, and whether you intend to leave around lunchtime: geoffbunce.t21@btinternet.com
Best wishes
